Led in check by Gambia during this 1st edition of the Senegambia Golf Cup, Senegal returns empty-handed.
The Gambia is the first nation to win the Senegambia Golf Cup, jointly hosted by Gambia and Senegal, on Gambian soil on Friday and Saturday. The Gambians, masters of their 18-hole fairway, left no chance for their Senegalese guests. The latter, defeated in the match play single (individual) event on Friday (15-12), had promised to reverse the trend in greensome (doubles) on Saturday.
Despite a points victory in this JC greensome event (10-7), the Senegalese could not win the 1st edition against their Gambian brothers. The reason? The Scorpions, who had scored 15 points in the individual event, ended up with 22 points in the two events (individual and doubles), compared to 20 for the Lions.
This accumulation of points makes the team of President Ibrahima Diawara (son of former Gambian President Daouda Diawara) the first sacred nation at the 1st edition of the Senegambia Cup.
